HOW YOU CONTRIBUTE

page0 15.JPG

YOU ARE PAYING THE ACCESS TO REMOTENESS

On a first and introductory note, we tell our clients that, among other things, if go into remote nature destinations they are paying the access to some of the most pristine and untouched areas of the planet. And they are sleeping in properties that host very few rooms in areas that can be huge. To be able to keep a low number of visitors and preserve this immense space empty of humans, costs have to be high.

Basically we tell our clients that they are paying to visit these wilderness areas but mostly they are paying to protect them.

So when deciding to embark on this kind of journey, you are helping more than the country’s economy and their tourism income box.

Also, you will be on a full board regime (meaning meals, drinks) and laundry services are paid for. Also included are 2 activities per day, park fees and transfers into each property (flights and/or car and/or boat). Depending on the country (or property location), explorations can be done on a 4x4, helicopter, boat, canoe, horse, on foot, balloon, driving quad bikes, mountain bikes… Be ready for wildlife tracking, trekking, community and school visits, craftsmanship workshops, visiting conservation projects, fishing, fly camping, canoe/horseback/camel riding, wine tasting routes, beach retreats, yoga… and more.

your visit helps protect wildlife and wilderness areaS

In many national parks animals were gone and procedures were put in place to bring them back. In other areas, wildlife is there but their subsistence demands implementing measures.
Either way, here are a few examples of how to preserve an ecosystem:
- Understand if certain areas can have wildlife reintroduced and get permits for a safari activity.
- Remove hunting concessions so that animals are not aggressive.
- Study migration patterns of species that cross country borders or national parks: open wildlife corridors and keep them safe.
- Control a balanced animal population; study migration paths; create access to water.
- Make sure that certain animals can be transported, survive in a new habitat and breed in these areas.
- Understand transfer costs, quarentene procedures and risks involved in the moving of these animals.
- Build, manage and maintain efficient anti poaching methods to make sure wildlife is not killed.
Basically, your journey contributes to wildlife repopulation in certain areas, maintaining their territories in others, and in both cases protect animals while engaging local population in doing the same.

your visit EMPOWERS local communities

How does one tackle and act on wildlife/wilderness issues? with local communities involvement. Here are some of the factors taken into account:
- Understand where people live (what is their proximity to national parks or concession borders) to make sure they can keep their livelihood intact (cattle and crops) while avoiding wildlife conflict.
- Compensate local communities when their cattle is killed by a predator or crops eaten by wildlife.
- Educate and involve these communities with the conservation measures being used in their areas by opening more schools and introducing educational programs about wildlife and sustainability.
- Employ land engage locals on the benefits of tourism and wildlife conservation jobs.
- Involve communities on the preservation, reforestation and sometimes expansion of those wilderness areas. This is not often easy to achieve because of, among other issues, the growth of human population.
Those are only some of the actions involving the well-managed travel industries we work with. So when you board a plane, heading to remote areas, you are maybe realizing a dream of yours but you are also contributing to preserve these animals and improve local people’s lives.

OUR VALUES

WE CARE ABOUT PRESERVING WILDERNESS AREAS

There are many reasons as of why we fell in love with Nature.
But the most important one is the fact that many people who are born in countries that host big national parks (or often travel to them) are worried about preserving these immense wilderness areas, and the life in it.
As a company, there is nothing we care more than this.
With a planet so damaged by human footprint, so polluted with noise and movement, so full of us, we worry about the many other creatures that live in it, with little space and often difficult chances to survive. We worry that our land is so modified and "toxified" that it is unable to generate more natural resources. And we worry that the only way to save certain species from extinction is to keep them in captivity. The thought of having a wild animal living inside an enclosure, as big as it might be, continues to disturb us. The journeys we design are hopefully contributing to keep those vast extensions of land intact and safe for the wild species that live in them. That is the intention behind the creation of LovingJune Travels.

WE FOLLOW CERTAIN PRINCIPLES WHEN DESIGNING A TRIP

As we decided to move into the business of planning trips to people who wish to see wildlife in their natural habitat, and/or explore wilderness areas, we realised that we would only work with partners and properties whose concerns mirror ours.
Make no mistake: conservation is a hot topic and there are different valid opinions around it. Personally, there are some principles we hold on to and apply while designing journeys for our clients.
- We are against safaris where you queue behind cars to see a leopard eating its prey.
- We are against safaris that allow cheetahs to jump on the cars so that guests ravel at that.
- We are against sending people to properties where you walk with lions, cuddle cheetahs or ride elephants as if all of these animals were pets.
- We are against any form of tourism that over populates areas that need to be quiet, so the natural world stays as "undisturbed" as possible.

AND WE SEND OUR CLIENTS TO PLACES WHERE…

- Remoteness is key, nature is wild and - where applicable - wildlife is (still) abundant;
- Luxury properties are small and intimate, with very few rooms, so one can enjoy the pace of a true safari life whilst having an exquisite service, warm atmosphere and excellent guiding knowledge;
- Areas where there is very little human movement, a low impact footprint and barely any human interference.
- Management and construction guidelines of the properties are the most sustainable possible.
- Clients can visit conservation projects that rehabilitate animals back into the wild, and learn from the people on the ground, who work -daily- to preserve both wildlife and wilderness areas.

“Luxury in Nature” This is our MOTTO.

We value properties that are getting into electric 4x4 cars or boats, that are often 100% solar powered, that create their own vegetable gardens to reduce aircraft food supply into camps. We value chefs who are developing a more diverse vegan or vegetarian cuisine and lodges where plastic usage is banished or reduced to the maximum at camps. We value non-fenced properties. We value the fact that more women are taking up guiding and more local people are assuming management roles in camps.

We value all of this and we value that our clients sit, sleep, eat and rest in beautiful tiny properties where service and warmth are authentic, detail oriented and discreet. We love when rooms views, bath views, dining views are stunning, interior design is fitting the surrounding and all details are taken care of.

“Our ideal goal is that every client we plan a trip for gets the urgency of caring for this fragile wild corners of the planet, cares for conservation issues and shares their travel experiences with others. For every trip we create, hopefully, one wildlife ambassador is born. This is our dream. And we would love to have you in it.”

THE service WE PROVIDE

WE WANT TO

Take people into the most beautiful and remote places of our planet and take care of them, every step of the way, from the minute they leave home until they come back.

We believe that, sometimes, people would rather go on vacations without having to spend time with logistics or making decisions. Instead, they would rather enjoy every moment of the trip, being present, relaxed, restful, knowing that everything is thought of but flexible to their daily needs or spontaneous whereabouts.

It’s not about us imposing a program and not being adaptable to a client’s pace and requests: we just don’t want a client to be the one organising it or having to modify it.

Every trip is designed based on a person’s tastes, wishes, needs, curiosities and budgets. No decision is made without their input and approval but many surprises are created along the way. Once all is set, we say to them: just sit back and enjoy this journey.

“It felt so good being taken under your travel agency’s wing and relax during every moment of my trip. To go on holiday without having to make any decision and knowing that details were sorted out was freeing for my headspace and truly restful. For that week I did not have to wake up, having to plan the day. Actually I didn’t even bother to think about it.”

clients don’t worry about:

  • Where to go every day

  • What to visit and the time to go

  • How long they should stay

  • How to make it from one place to the other

  • Having to book/change or cancel an hotel or a restaurant table: we do this as often as they want to.

  • Having to discuss itineraries or budgets with a local driver

  • Transfer issues or waiting for an Uber

  • Dietary requisites

  • Packing the wrong clothes

  • Be online to book an activity, or get tickets for a site entrance.
