NATERCIA FAMILY TRIP - KENYA - AUGUST 26
NAIROBI - 1 NIGHT - 17 AUG
UP NORTH - 3 NIGHTs - 18, 19, 20 AUG
Welcome to Samburu land, one of the most unique parts of Kenya. In close flight distance from some of the most beautiful wild areas in the world, this place is a gem on its own. Family owned, the chances are you will be invited for breakfast or dinner with the patriarch and interact with the family, learning a lot about what life in Kenya looks like. This conservancy is managed by the Samburu and you will spend time with them at their villages and be present, maybe, to some of their rituals. There is so much to do here - from camels, to horses, to going to the market and, at its best, this is the place for an helicopter flight - the only access to the most remote areas of northern Kenya that will have you land on wild lake shores and desert dunes on the same day (while looking at pink waters habited by flamingos). Although a dry area of Kenya this is the only part of the country (and the all of Africa) that you get to see the very endangered reticulated giraffe or the grevy zebra. Very few places in Africa will have this unique energy around, or offer these experiences.
EXTRA: THE HELICOPTERS
THE MARA - 3 nights - 21, 22, 23 AUG
Welcome to a private family – owned boutique lodge, in a unique location perched on the banks of the Mara River, tucked away on Naretoi, a 1000-acre private estate within the Enonkishu Conservancy on the edge of the Maasai Mara. On what was once an intensive farm, Naretoi is the first project of its kind where the land on the edge of the Mara has changed from farming back to nature. This “rewilding” project, in lace since 2012, has seen the rangelands return to their natural state, with wildlife returning to the area after over a decade of intensive farming.
What can you expect here? Common sightings now of wild dog, leopard and of course the resident pride of lion in the Enonkishu Conservancy.
Surround yourself with the rich traditions of East African life and share a sense of well-being and calm, hosted by a welcoming family and team to look after your every need, whilst having direct access to some of the world’s best wildlife viewing. Activities include accompanied bush walks, game drives, sundowners, visits to the rhino sanctuary (extra) and farm visits.
What is our intention by sending you here? we wish that you and your family learn about the importance of rewilding land and give it back to wildlife. In a continent that faces pressure from an increasing population, we value and support families who own land and work with their Masai communities to give animals more space to live. 50 Maasai families live in this region, to protect the surrounding wildlife grazing areas so that they can earn revenue from guests as well as from their cattle, in a holistic grazing plan, where wildlife and cattle can thrive together. This is the kind of sustainable project we want you to meet and be inspired from. In here, your children will run in endless space and freedom, learn about the importance of working alongside your neighbours to protect nature and see how majestic these animals are, in the wild, where they are meant to be.
